Professor Kenneth a. Ribet, a famous mathematician visited Nanjing University from June 3 to June 10 in 2018.
Professor Ribet at the University of California, Berkeley, is an academician of the American Academy of Sciences and chairman of the American Mathematics Association. He is an expert in arithmetic geometry and number theory, and won many honors such as Fermat prize and Brouwer medal.
This is Professor Ribet's first trip to China. Nanjing is the first stop of Professor Ribet's first trip to China.
Professor Ribet gave two public lectures “Fermats Last Theorem” and “Recent work on the arithmetic of Eisenstein primes” in Nanjing University.Hundreds of people listened the lectures and exchanged cordially with the professor Ribet.
On June 10, Professor Ribet finished his trip to Nanjing and went to Shangha for his speaking at the Joint International Meeting of the American Mathematical Society and the Chinese Mathematical Society in Shanghai.
